Why would you want all your wedding photos on DVD?
Ok this photo is a slight exaggeration of might become of your wedding photo DVD but you get the idea.
Often one of the first questions we get from wedding clients is “Can I have all the photos on DVD?”
Now I have nothing against this but I’m not going to charge you for this. The answer is always ‘Yes, you’re going to get all of the images on DVD for free”.
WHY????
- We put an emphasis on the final outcome of your images…… In our mind that should be a wedding storybook you’ll keep forever.
- I have DVD’s that are less than two years old that don’t work anymore.
- Chances are you’re going to print them all 4×6 from a local high street printers as apposed the the professional lab I use. The problem with this is that the images are either printed automatically by machine with no colour correction or cropping.
- You might not print any – forget about the pictures and worst of all…….. me! For Michael the businessman that is not good and it doesn’t matter how much of a wonderful job we do.
- Shoot to burn photography is ‘easy money’ – that’s not really the approach you want from your wedding photographer is it?
Let me ask you this question:
In ten years time when you show your children pictures of your wedding day are going to show them a beautifully designed Storybook or the handful of prints you made before the emulsion on the back of your DVD degraded so much that you were unable open them? (Not forgetting of course that DVD’s in ten years will be more than likely non-existant).
The Story of Hayley
Hayley got married nearly a year and a half ago. It was a lovely wedding on a decent budget. I was a guest at the wedding and offered to take the pictures as a present. I was turned down and told to enjoy myself ………so I did …. as a present I took pictures with the groom before the ceremony and hosted a pre-wedding studio session with Hayley and her bridesmaids.
The photographer they hired was a competent part-timer who put some 800 shots on DVD for a mere £800.
Fast forward one year…………. Hayley’s pictures from her wedding are now
- A handful of 4×6 prints – a couple in frames although the high street printers cropped off some of the original picture.
- About 10 prints from her home printer printed on normal paper which ran out of ink halfway through.
So Hayley came to us at London Wedding Storybooks and asked if I could design her a wedding storybook. Of course we obliged and the result was three stunning 12×12inch books which Hayley then gave to both sets of parents for Christmas (and one for herself of course).
Hayley now spends most of her time recommending us to wedding couples…….
Here is the front cover from the book.
