Songs that you really shouldn’t play at your wedding

Here’s a quick list of 10 songs that I won’t really recommend asking your DJ to play at your wedding.

  1. Every Breath You Take – Police – This song is about stalking isn’t it?
  2. I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor – Really?
  3. White Wedding – Billy Idol – It was claimed that Idol wrote this to convoy his displeasure with his sister’s fiance. However Idol claims that there was never any family resentment towards his sister, and that the song simply heightened fantasy and nothing more…. still.
  4. What’s Love Got to Do with It? - Tina Turner – Mind you Ike Turner was a lovely chap wasn’t he?
  5. Another One Bites the Dust - Queen – Actually playing that one is quite funny.
  6. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion – Love on a sinking ship metaphor anyone?
  7. Fix you – Coldplay - Bit of a Gavin and Stacey reference for you there.
  8. My first Wedding – The Wombats – First line :“This is my first wedding and I hope it is my last. Things would be fantastic if me and the bride didn’t have a past”.
  9. She’s no lady, she’s my wife – Lyle Lovette - Again it could be quite funny to play this one if the Groom’s parent have a sense of humour.
  10. We Should Never Have Children – Absentee - First line : “Darling you’re no oil painting and I’m no Michelangelo”
